“I promise you, in the excessive mercy of my Heart that my all powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the first Friday for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance; they shall not die in my disgrace nor without receiving the sacraments; my divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in that last moment.”  — Our Lord to St. Margaret Mary

How to complete the First Friday’s Devotion:

  1. Receive Holy Communion on each First Friday;
  2. The nine Fridays must be consecutive;
  3. They must be made in honor and in reparation to His Sacred Heart.

ACT OF REPARATION TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Sacred Heart of Jesus, animated with a desire to repair the outrages unceasingly offered to Thee, we prostrate before Thy throne of mercy, and in the name of all mankind, pledge our love and fidelity to Thee!

The more Thy mysteries are blasphemed, the more firmly we shall believe them, O Sacred Heart of Jesus!

The more impiety endeavors to extinguish our hopes of immortality, the more we shall trust in Thy Heart, sole hope of mankind!

The more hearts resist Thy Divine attractions, the more we shall love Thee, O infinitely amiable Heart of Jesus!

The more unbelief attacks Thy Divinity, the more humbly and profoundly we shall adore It, O Divine Heart of Jesus!

The more Thy holy laws are transgressed and ignored, the more we shall delight to observe them, O most holy Heart of Jesus!

The more Thy Sacraments are despised and abandoned, the more frequently we shall receive them with love and reverence, O most liberal Heart of Jesus!

The more the imitation of Thy virtues is neglected and forgotten, the more we shall endeavor to practice them, O Heart of Jesus, model of every virtue!

The more the devil labors to destroy souls, the more we shall be inflamed with desire to save them, O Heart of Jesus, zealous Lover of souls!

The more sin and impurity destroy the image of God in man, the more we shall try by purity of life to be a living temple of the Holy Spirit, O Heart of Jesus!

The more Thy Holy Church is despised, the more we shall endeavor to be her faithful children, O Sweet Heart of Jesus!

The more Thy Vicar on earth is persecuted, the more we will honor him as the infallible head of Thy Holy Church, show our fidelity and pray for him, O kingly Heart of Jesus!

O Sacred Heart, through Thy powerful grace, may we become Thy apostles in the midst of a corrupted world, and be Thy crown in the kingdom of heaven.  Amen.

The First Saturday Devotion

In the July 13, 1917 apparition at Fatima, Our Lady said, “I shall come to ask for…the Communion of Reparation on the first Saturdays.” She came expressly to request this devotion when she appeared to Sister Lucia on December 10, 1925, in Pontevedra, Spain, where she was preparing to start her religious life.

The Motives for the Devotion

While Sister Lucia was in the chapel with Our Lord during part of the night of May 29-30, 1930, He explained the motivation for the devotion. This explanation answered the question posed by her confessor about why the number should be five Saturdays and not nine to correspond with the nine First Fridays, or seven to correspond with Our Lady’s seven sorrows.

Our Lord responded that there are five ways that people offend and blaspheme against the Immaculate Heart of Mary:

1. Offences or blasphemies against the Immaculate Conception – its denial and/or ridicule

2. Against her perpetual virginity

3. Against her divine maternity, refusing to accept her as the Mother of God and Mother of all mankind

4. Those who implant in children’s hearts, indifference, contempt and even hate against our Immaculate Mother

5. Insults directed against her sacred images –displays of indifference or ridicule, and the infliction of damage to them.

The Essential Elements of Devotion

With the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart for these five offenses, we are asked to:

1. Go to confession (Can be within 8 days before or after the First Saturday)

2. Receive Holy Communion (If there is no Saturday Mass or due to the COVID pandemic, one can offer a Spiritual Communion, see below)

3. Pray five decades of the Rosary

4. Keep Our Lady company for 15 minutes while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary

Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.

The Great Promise

Our Lady promised to assist all those who will practice the devotion of the first Saturday on five consecutive months with the graces necessary for salvation at the hour of their death.

Promise not a guarantee of heaven

It would be a serious mistake to think that those who practice the devotion on five consecutive First Saturdays are guaranteed passage into heaven when the moment of their death arrives. Our cooperation with grace is always required.A life-long devotion, not merely five First Saturdays

The promise associated with the practice of the devotion on five consecutive First Saturdays has been mistakenly construed by many to mean that, once one has completed a series of five, they have accomplished the devotion and are finished. This was not Our Lady’s intention in making the promise, and has resulted in far fewer people practicing the devotion.

Our regular practice of the First Saturdays is a sign of our devotion to the Immaculate Heart and a desire on our part to make reparation for the blasphemies against her.

Prayers of St.Faustina

“O Jesus, stretched out upon the cross, I implore You, give me the grace of following faithfully the most holy will of Your Father in all things, always and everywhere. And when this will of God seems to me very harsh and difficult to fulfill, it is then I beg You, Jesus, may power and strength flow upon me from Your wounds, and may my lips keep repeating – Your will be done, O Lord (…) O most compassionate Jesus, grant me the grace to forget myself that I may live totally for souls, helping You in the work of salvation, according to the most holy will of Your Father…” (Diary, 1265).

“O Lord, I want to be completely transformed into Your mercy and to be Your living reflection. May the greatest of all divine attributes, that of Your unfathomable mercy, pass through my heart and soul to my neighbour.

Help me, O Lord, that my eyes may be merciful, so that I may never suspect or judge from appearances, but look for what is beautiful in my neighbours’ souls and come to their rescue.

Help me, O Lord, that my ears may be merciful, so that I may give heed to my neighbours’ needs and not be indifferent to their pains and moanings.

Help me, O Lord, that my tongue may be merciful, so that I should never speak negatively of my neighbour, but have a word of comfort and forgiveness for all.

Help me, O Lord, that my hands may be merciful and filled with good deeds, so that I may do only good to my neighbours and take upon myself the most difficult and toilsome tasks.

Help me, O Lord, that my feet may be merciful, so that I may hurry to assist my neighbour, overcoming my own fatigue and weariness (…)

Help me, O Lord, that my heart may be merciful so that I myself may feel all the sufferings of my neighbour. (…)

May Your mercy, O Lord, rest upon me” (Diary, 163).

“O Jesus, I want to live in the present moment, to live as if this were the last day of my life. I want to use every moment scrupulously for the greater glory of God, to use every circumstance for the benefit of my soul. I want to look upon everything from the point of view that nothing happens without the will of God. God of unfathomable mercy, embrace the whole world and pour Yourself out upon us through the merciful Heart of Jesus” (Diary, 1183).

“O Greatly Merciful God, Infinite Goodness, today all mankind calls out from the abyss of its misery to Your mercy, to Your compassion, O God; and it is with a mighty voice of misery that it cries out. Gracious God, do not reject the prayer of this earth’s exiles! O Lord, Goodness beyond our understanding, Who are acquainted with our misery through and through and know that by our own power we cannot ascend to You, we implore You: fill us with Your grace and keep on increasing Your mercy in us, that we may faithfully do Your holy will all through our lives and at the hour of death. Let the omnipotence of Your mercy shield us from the darts of our salvation’s enemies, that we may with confidence, as Your children, await Your final coming…” (Diary, 1570).

The Fruits of Prayer

“By prayer a soul arms itself for all kinds of combat. In whatever state the soul may be, it ought to pray. A soul which is pure and beautiful must pray, or else it will lose its beauty. A soul which is striving after this purity must pray, or else it will never attain it. A soul which is newly converted must pray, or else it will fall again. A sinful soul, plunged in sins, must pray so that it might rise again. There is no soul which is not bound to pray, for every single grace comes to the soul through prayer” (Diary, 146).

“…a soul should be faithful to prayer despite torments, dryness and temptations, because often the realization of God’s great plans depends on such prayer. If we do not persevere in such prayer, we frustrate what the Lord wanted to do through us or within us. Let every soul remember these words: And being in anguish, He prayed longer” (Diary, 872).

“We should often pray to the Holy Spirit for the grace of prudence. Prudence consists in discretion, rational reflection and courageous resolution. The final decision is always up to us” (Diary, 1106).

When you say this prayer, with a contrite heart and with faith on behalf of some sinner, I will give him the grace of conversion. This is the prayer:

O Blood and Water,
which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus
as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You” (Diary 187).

Prayer for Mercy for poor sinners

Prayer for Mercy for Poor Sinners
by
St. Faustina

O Jesus, eternal Truth, our Life, I call upon You and I beg Your mercy for poor sinners.

O sweetest Heart of my Lord, full of pity and unfathomable mercy, I plead with You for poor sinners.

O Most Sacred Heart, Fount of Mercy from which gush forth rays of inconceivable graces upon the entire human race, I beg of You light for poor sinners.

O Jesus, be mindful of Your own bitter Passion and do not permit the loss of souls redeemed at so dear a price of Your most precious Blood.

O Jesus, when I consider the great price of Your Blood, I rejoice at its immensity, for one drop alone would have been enough for the salvation of all sinners. Although sin is an abyss of wickedness and ingratitude, the price paid for us can never be equaled.

Therefore, let every soul trust in the Passion of the Lord, and place its hope in His mercy. God will not deny His mercy to anyone. Heaven and earth may change, but God’s mercy will never be exhausted.

Oh, what immense joy burns in my heart when I contemplate Your incomprehensible goodness, O Jesus! I desire to bring all sinners to Your feet that they may glorify Your mercy throughout endless ages.

Diary 72

One of the greatest intercession prayers she made was during Holy Mass. In her diary she writes, “During Holy Mass, I felt the closeness of the Lord in a special way. After Holy Communion, I turned my gaze with trust toward the Lord and said to Him, “Jesus, I beg You, by the inconceivable power of Your mercy, let all the souls who will die today escape the fires of hell, even if they have been the greatest sinners ever.” This is a beautiful prayer composed by St. Faustina, we should all remember it and say it with sincerity after Holy Communion. And because of her pure love, the Lord answered, “You have come to know well the depths of My mercy. I will do what you ask, but unite yourself continually with My agonising Heart and make reparation to My justice. Know that you have asked Me for a great gift, but I see that this was influenced by your pure love for Me; that is why I am granting your request” (Diary 873).

About this site

I am going to attempt to share messages and prayers from the saints of Love and Mercy. I hope it is encouraging to you as it is for me.

My inspiration for doing this is from reading the Way of Divine Love given to Sister Josefa Menedez. It has many prayers and messages to mankind to encourage the faithful.

Here is one such message….

“Throughout the centuries, I have revealed in different ways my love for humanity. I have made my Heart known to them:
Now I want something more:
I desire them to believe in my mercy, to expect all from my goodness, never to doubt my forgiveness.

I want the whole world to know that I am a God of love, forgiveness and mercy.
Do not be afraid… Come to me…
If you only knew how much I love you !

To all I want to say:
If you want happiness I am happiness,
If you want peace, I am peace,
If you want mercy I am mercy and love.

If you want to give me the greatest proof of your love, count on my forgiveness and believe that your sins can never surpass my mercy for it is infinite.
My Heart loves souls so tenderly that it wants to make use of their miseries, their weaknesses and even their faults.

I know you … and I love you so much that no amount of misery could ever turn my love away from you.

My Heart is not only an abyss of love; it is also an abyss of mercy”
